1. Chapter 1 (1/1)
just a little ingrid/erin piece because... well, why do i write any of these things? because i thought of it, and then when i'd written it i thought you might like it. so. enjoy.
disclaimer: i don't own young dracula; if i did, i'd be able to write the characters accurately.
"what happened to you?" ingrid raised an eye
ow, but when her snide remark failed to get any kind of reaction, her tone became worried. "erin, what's wrong?" the slayer was sitting staring into the fire, a stunned expression on her face, leaves in her hair."i went for a walk in the park." ingrid settled beside her, suddenly afraid that something awful might have happened. a park in the middle of the night might pose no threat to ingrid, but a
eather walking alone... anything could go wrong, and erin didn't have vampire speed to save her."alone?" erin shrugged, gaze never wavering from the fireplace."yeah. i... saw vlad. and bertrand." ingrid frowned; she didn't understand. "they were just kissing, like... like it was normal, like nothing mattered. like they were happy."
well, that made more sense. if there was one thing ingrid understood, it was revenge."and now you're angry, i suppose?" erin surprised her, shaking her head."no, i'm glad he's happy, i just... wish i could be, too.""you don't mind that he's with bertrand?""no. they're way better for each other than we were, i just didn't want to admit that." ingrid frowned."then what's the problem?" erin sighed."it just seems unfair that they can be normal and sneak off to the park and stuff, and i..."
the eldest dracula child was running out of patience."oh, spit it out already, would you? all this trailing off, it's-""...i can't even ask you out without making things awkward." ingrid stared at her, caught off guard. a moment's shocked silence passed before she could even react."what?" erin leapt to her feet and started backing quickly towards the door."sorry, i – i was joking, i mean, well, i wasn't joking but i didn't mean to freak you out-"
"you're trying to use me as the second best thing to my little
other." this, at least, was something ingrid was familiar with. she was always the replacement when people couldn't have vlad. well, she was nobody's second choice. erin had stopped, though, shaking her head firmly, an almost exasperated expression on her face."no, it was always you. it sounds horrible, but vlad was the next best thing." ingrid raised an eye
ow – that was not the way around things usually went – and erin misinterpreted the expression. "it's not as bad as it sounds, really, well i suppose it is but he was just using me to try to avoid his feelings for bertrand, so-""you want... me?" the blonde nodded miserably, blushing from the intensity of ingrid's gaze. "and not just as a replacement for vlad.""i told you. you're my first choice. look, i'm gonna-"
the word 'go' never quite escaped erin's lips as ingrid's superior speed put her right in front of the embarrassed slayer."say that again." erin frowned, but ingrid could see something like hope beginning to dawn behind her eyes."you're my first choice." ingrid kissed her.
it was about time she got to be number one.
