"my sources are telling me that ingrid's plotting against you." bertrand didn't bother with small talk."oh, great. i'll deal with her-" vlad was surprised when his tutor cut him off."they also tell me that your father is plotting against you, as are erin, renfield… and wolfie." the chosen one stared at him."that's ins- ingrid, what do you want?" his sister had just appeared, looking smug about something."he's plotting against you. bertrand, i mean. and i'd watch out for ryan if i were you. and erin.""right…""vladdy!" his father strolled in. "ah, i see you've caught two of the traitors already! very good, but-""everyone shut up!" vlad folded his arms. "obviously something's going on here. someone's trying to make us turn on each other. well, it's not happening. i trust you lot, and there's nothing they can do to change that. so we're just going to have to ignore it and stick together."

the other vampires exchanged wary glances… then bertrand shrugged."they lost all credibility at wolfie anyway." the count laughed."can you imagine? little wolfie, plotting? he can't even play chess." he clapped his daughter on the back, since she was the closest person to share his humour with, and she smiled hesitantly."yeah. clearly someone's messing with us. next they'll be accusing his teddy."vlad looked around the room at the people he cared about most, and smiled proudly to himself. nobody was going to beat them.
